Gospel Study Schedule
General Conference weekends (when we hear messages of faith from leaders in our church centered on Jesus Christ) are usually two of my favorite weekends in the year. I typically come away from them uplifted and with a desire to revisit and study the messages that were given. However, implementing my good intentions is sometimes easier said than done. Over the last few years, I have experimented with different ways to incorporate studying the most recent Conference talks into my personal and family study.
Studying scripture is also an important part of my spiritual practice and worship, and the shift last year to a more home-centered, church-supported gospel structure church-wide significantly impacted how we approach scripture study in our home.
Most recently, I have begun sifting through all the General Conference talks from the most recent conference and dividing them up to incorporate in correspondence with the Come, Follow Me scripture study schedule for the next six months.
I spread out the General Conference talks so we review one or two talks a week (since there are typically more talks than there are weeks in the six months). This way we spread out the General Conference talks instead of cramming them all in to a shorter period of time, and I like looking for cohesion between the words of ancient and modern prophets.
Some Conference talks are easy to assign have ready and obvious themes and connections to certain passages of scripture. Others are definitely less easily correlated. But I find there are pretty much always common threads and applications of the principles we are studying.
Our approach to what gospel study looks like for our family is continually evolving, so I don’t know if we will keep doing it this way in the future. But I thought I would share my current gospel study schedule in case others would benefit from it, as well.
There is no prescriptive way to do this in terms of how much or how little of the material to read or cover or discuss. That is completely up to each person/family to implement as they feel best in their own homes.
I merely offer the study schedule as a tool in case it would be helpful since I already did the legwork to match them up. It took me a while to get it put together so a few weeks’ worth of Conference talks have already passed, but if desired those talks could be added on to another week when there’s only one talk listed.
I like to hang one copy of the schedule on the magnet board by our kitchen and I trim off the edges of another one and tape it into the cover of my Come, Follow Me book.
Happy Gospel studying!

I recognize how much work went into coordinating Conference talks with Come, Follow Me. I appreciate your willingness to share the results of your efforts.
